Thomas L. Wood, Jr., 88, of Saulsbury, passed from this life Monday, April 12, 2021 at West Tennessee Rehabilitation Hospital in Jackson.
The widower of Ann White Wood, who died in 2014 after 61 years of marriage, he was a retired Chief Master Sergeant and Flight Engineer with the US Air Force, having served 42 years. He was born Thursday, August 11, 1932 in Jackson, son of the late Thomas Leroy Wood, Sr. and Gertrude Hanson Wood, living most of his life in Memphis. He moved to Grand Valley Lakes in 1995 where he enjoyed his retirement, cheering on the University of Tennessee football team. Among his hobbies were hunting and coaching softball, but he received his greatest fulfillment from being around his family, whom he dearly loved. Mr. Wood was a member of the American Legion and a Methodist in faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Harris (Don) of Middleton and Cindy Woodruff (Denny) of Sanford, NC; a daughter in law, Sherry Wood of Tupelo, MS; a sister, Doris Sigman of Memphis; four grandchildren, Tanya Sutterfield (Terence), Brian Wood (Martha Lane), Nathan Woodruff (Nicole) and Katie Harris; and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Wood in 2017.
