Thomas Edward Carroll
Enville: Thomas Edward Carroll, son of Hugh Christopher and Loda Pearl Wilkins Carroll, was born November 10, 1923 in the Roby Community of Chester County at the old Carroll home place. On September 20, 1946 he married Virginia Maxine Stewart in Corinth, Mississippi. Thomas Carroll passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
In 1942 Thomas graduated from Chester County High School. He farmed most of his 86 years on this earth. He also briefly worked in Memphis, then for Zieglar Construction Company building roads in Alabama in the early 1940s. During World War II, he worked at the Jacks Creek Airport, the second longest dirt airfield in the United States. He also owned and ran a country store (Carroll Store) in the Roby Community for a few years.
Thomas leaves his wife, Maxine Carroll and two children: Christine Carroll and Michael Carroll (Yoga) all of the Roby Community. He also leaves two grandchildren, Wendy Carroll Sain (Trenton) of Corinth, MS and Dustin Carroll (Jody) of Roby and two great grandchildren: Gavin Sain and Madelyn Sain and a sister, Ginny Carroll Brewington (Ronney) of Roby and two nephews, Kevin Brewington of Germantown and Nolan Brewington (Hannah) and grand-niece, Kaylan Brewington of Jackson, TN.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frankie Carroll and Hugh Carroll, Jr. and a sister Bobbie Stewart.
