Thomas Loyd Bates of Cypress Inn, TN was born January 11, 1942 in Madison Co., Alabama, the son of the late Robert Sidney and Dessie White Bates. Mr. Bates was a truck driver. Mr. Bates departed this life on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 68 Years, 2 Months, 18 Days.He is survived by a son, Jacob Sidney Bates of Cypress Inn, TN; a birthdaughter given up to adoption, Barbara Slayton and her children, Kimberley and Michael of Hartsville, TN; a sister, Brooksie E. Bates and husband, Bill of Elkmont, AL; three brothers, Charles M. Bates and wife, Iona of Cave Springs, GA, James Bates and wife, Donna of Venice, FL, Mark D. Bates and wife, Brenda of Ardmore, AL; a special friend, Linda Scott of South Bend, IN; nieces and nephews.Services will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 8:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Collinwood, Tennessee, with John E. Banks officiating. At his request, his body will be cremated. Visitation will be Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 6 pm to service time at the funeral home.
