Thelma McDonald, 66, of Middleton, died Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The wife of Van Patterson McDonald, who survives, she was an assembly technician at Dover Elevators in Middleton and Walnut for 30 years. Mrs. McDonald was born August 1, 1939 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Elbert and Lula Sisco Howell and had lived in Middleton most of her life. She was a treasurer for 20 years at Brint’s Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. As a deacon’s wife, Mrs. McDonald often presented special music and was most happy when she was helping others. She loved her family and church.
Services were 11:00 AM Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Mike Benefield and Steve Cole officiating. Burial in Brint’s Chapel Cemetery, near Middleton, was conducted by Ricky Watkins.
In addition to her husband, whom she married March 23, 1957, survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Diane & Terry Chandler of Middleton, Charlotte & Ricky Watkins of Hickory Valley and Debra & Dwade Howell of Middleton; three sisters, Shirley Graves of Middleton, Glenda Irvin and her husband, Bill of Lucy, Tenn. and Sandra Wright and her husband, Johnny of Walnut, Miss.; two brothers, Bobby Howell and Kenneth Howell and his wife, Teresa, all of Middleton; five grandchildren, Adam Howell of Toone, Katie Watkins Eppers and her husband, Brian of Nunnelly, Tenn., Jared, Jacob and Caleb Watkins, all of Hickory Valley and two great grandchildren, Alix Joy Eppers and Jaden Issac Eppers. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Ann McDonald and three brothers, Cecil, Donald and John Thomas Howell.
