Thelma L. Carpenter was born September 28, 1931 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Brodie H. and Nanny Ella Winberry Griswell.
She was united in marriage to Albert Ray Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter preceded her in death on November 2, 1977.
Mrs. Carpenter was a sewing machine operator at Garan Manufacturing for 37 years. She was a member of the Mars Hill church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting and was an excellent cook. She was known for always baking a Princess Louise Cake for Christmas dinners, making sage dressing and the most delicious strawberry cobbler.
Mrs. Carpenter departed this life on December 4, 2019 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 88 Years, 2 Months, 6 Days. She is survived by two sisters, Cora Treece of Adamsville, TN, Martha Treece of Adamsville, TN; 5 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by a son, Danny Ray Carpenter; a granddaughter, April Carpenter; three brothers, Cecil,, Willard, and Junior Griswell; a sister, Betty Taylor.
