Theda Stooksberry died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 10 Months, 21 Days. He was born April 22, 1934 in Wayne County, TN the son of the late John Robert and Clara Mae Haddock Stooksberry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stooksberry was preceded in death by brothers, James English and Harvel Marshall Stooksberry; and a stepfather, Frank (Skinner) Ray.
Mr. Stooksberry, a graduate of Wayne County High School, loved Tennessee especially living in Wayne and Lawrence Counties. Living in southern middle Tennessee he enjoyed living on the farm, doing farm chores, and especially raising cattle. As a sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Tennessee Vols and
even had the opportunity to coach amateur basketball. He worked for Murray Ohio for 35 years and was a member of Millrock Freewill Baptist Church. In later years he really enjoyed watching old western tv shows. He was a great family man who loved his family dearly, especially enjoying his grandchildren.
On December 31, 1953 he married Margie Lee Andrews Stooksberry who survives of Lawrenceburg, TN. Two sons were born to this marriage, Steven Theda Stooksberry and wife Dorothy Fogarty of Humble, TX and Gary Lee Stooksberry of Lawrenceburg, TN; 7 loving grandchildren, Shannon Stooksberry Cotton and Ashley Stooksberry both of Lawrenceburg, TN, William Robert Stooksberry of Columbia, TN, Steven Corey Stooksberry and Maegan Stooksberry both of LaPorte, TX, Tyler Stooksberry and Shea Stooksberry both of Humble, TX; 2 great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Logan Cotton of Lawrenceburg, TN; sister Eva Wise and husband Jimmy of Waynesboro, TN, brothers in law Harry Andrews and his wife Betty of Waynesboro, TN and Vance Moore of Collinwood, TN, and sister in law Dorothy Stewart Andrews of Westpoint, TN; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Services are scheduled for Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood with Ricky Nelson officiating. Burial following in Collinwood Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:30-9:00 PM and Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Corey Stooksberry, Tyler Stooksberry, William Stooksberry, Dennis Creecy, Norman Hanback, and H.D. Luker.
