Terry Lynn Phillip's earthly body was fully restored on Saturday, November 26, 2022 when he went to his eternal home at the age of 75. He was no doubt welcomed by his parents Anna Lou Kerby Phillips and Leonard "Dutch" Phillips as well as his cousin, Gary Kerby. Terry was born on April 17, 1947 in Memphis, TN. He graduated from Treadwell High School in 1965.
Terry proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. In 1968 while serving Terry's life was forever changed after an accident which left the majority of his body paralyzed. He was medically discharged from the U. S. Coast Guard. Terry taught all that crossed his path not to let life's circumstances define us, restrict us, or cause us to have a negative outlook. Terry's smile, jokes, laughter, and positive outlook on life were contagious. He was a bright light in this world and loved to help those who he met along life's journey.
For many years, Terry loved spending time on his family farm in McNairy County. He could often be found on the pontoon fishing or outside letting the sunshine warm his face. He also loved playing cards whether it be at the farm, at his kitchen table in Raleigh, at the casinos in Tunica, or on one of his cross country trips to Las Vegas. Terry enjoyed watching hunting and fishing shows, college basketball, and cheering for Alabama football.
Left to cherish many memories are his younger sister Jane McKell (Bobby), his nephew Brian Wilson, his cousin Rex Phillips (Elaine), his cousin's wife Terrie Kerby and their three daughters Tammy Moorman (Todd), Jill Gray (Jimmy), and Julie Turner (Tom) as well as life-long friends Monte West (Sandy), Albert Schmidt (Carolyn), and Don Rose (Joy), and extended family. The family is truly thankful for his long-time caregiver, Natalie Hill, who took incredible care of him and brought much joy to Terry's home over the past several years.
Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospitals.
