Tayo Martin, 46, of Pocahontas, died Friday, July 8 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Brenda Cartwright Martin, who survives, he was a retired timber cutter. He was born December 5,1958, in Covington, son of the late Jerry and Ruth King Martin and lived most of his life in McNairy and Hardeman Counties. He was an avid collector of Native American artifacts and also studied, promoted and paid tribute to Native Americans and their way of life.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on December 28, 1980, survivors include three daughters, Melissa Martin, laTosha Martin and Tiffeny Martin, all of Pocahontas; a step son, Joshua Bartholomew of Pocahontas; three sisters, Sherry Monroe, Talleluh Martin and Ellon Martin all of Selmer; and two grandchildren, Jacob Warren and Jack Watkins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Avery Huckabee.
