TAMMY WATKINS

Jackson, TN: Tamila Michelle Prater Watkins, age 56, passed away November 19, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was born August 24, 1967, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Tommie Veraline Huddleston Prater Becker and the late Charles Kay Prater. She grew up in Pocahontas, AR and attended Pocahontas High School.

She married Robert Watkins on May 5, 1986. They made their home in Little Rock and then moved to Milan, TN in 1990.

She attended Jackson State Community College and earned an associate degree and worked as a Radiology Technician at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She also attended Bethel College in Jackson and earned a  bachelor’s and a master’s degree in nursing and became an RN. She also took online courses to become a Nurse Practitioner and worked as Supervisor at Western State Hospital in Bolivar.

She attended Love in Truth Church in Jackson.

She enjoyed wire wrapping jewelry and traveling.   

She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family and many others.

Mrs. Watkins is survived by her husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Watkins; a son, Kyle Watkins of Jackson and a daughter, Hannah Watkins of Jackson, her mother, Tommie Veraline Huddleston Prater Becker and three sisters, Rhonda Alls of Delaplaine, AR, Brenda Wooten of Los Angeles, CA, and Danita Walls of Delaplaine, AR.

She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Bobby Prater and a sister, Vickie Gentry.
