Mrs. Sibyl Wilson Whitten, 80, of Iron City, TN, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at ECM Hospital.
Mrs. Whitten was a lifelong resident of Wayne County, TN and a member of Railroad Methodist Church, Iron City. She was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and sister. Her favorite pastimes included gospel music, fishing, and watching sports. As a lifetime homemaker, she loved to cook and spend time with loved ones.
The funeral will be Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 3 pm at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Collinwood, with the Rev. Ted Stricklin officiating. Burial will follow in Railroad Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, April 27, 2007 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Saturday, April 28, 2007 from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.
She was a daughter of the late Shelby and Ida Barnett Wilson.
Survivors include her devoted caretaker and husband of 58 years, Edward “Jeff†Whitten; son, Johnny Whitten and wife, Jennie, Iron City, TN; daughter, Patricia Russell, Florence; grandson, Zach Russell, Memphis, TN; granddaughters, Christy Whitten, Lawrenceburg, TN, Heather Whitten, Iron City, TN, Shannon Whitten, Martin, TN; sisters, Carmen Butler, Willodean Staggs, and Reba Brown all of Iron City, TN, Dorothy Whitten and Shelby Jean Smith both of Cypress Inn, TN, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Jerry Whitten, Mike Whitten, Randy Whitten, Larry Staggs, Rick Etheridge, and Jacky Hayes.
