SUSIE MANESS SMITH

 Finger, TN: Susie Elizabeth Maness Smith, age 78, passed away November 10, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was born March 26, 1946, in McNairy County, the daughter of the late Jess Willard and Eula Virginia Crouse Maness. She grew up in Hickory Corner and attended both Hickory Corner and Old Friendship Schools. She worked at Chester County Manufacturing Company for fourteen years, she worked as cafeteria manager at East Chester Elementary for twenty-one years retiring in 2001.

She married Danny B. Smith on April 29, 1966. They made their home in Finger. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on February 12, 2024. 

Her hobbies were growing flowers and family research.

She attended Old Friendship Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Duran Smith (Kimberly) of Brevard, NC and two daughters, Angela R. Smith Scott (Christopher) of Henderson and Paula Smith Fowler (Kevin) of Fairview, TN; four grandchildren, Christopher Kyle Scott, Dylan Blake Fowler, Garrett Thomas Fowler and Mia Elizabeth Smith and a great-grandson, Grayson Blake Fowler; four brothers, Robert Maness of Kansas, Harrell Maness (Terri) of Henderson, Danny Maness (Loretta) of Finger and Raywood Maness (Jean) of Counce, TN; two sisters, Shirley Swallow (Bobby) of Glen, MS and Betty Graves (Dennis) of Henderson; a brother-in-law, Bobby Robison and two sister-in-law’s, Mary Maness and Carol Maness both of Henderson. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, Bill Maness, Larry Maness, Johnny Maness and David Maness and a sister, Inetha Robison.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, November 14th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Tracy Snyder and Clint Burkhead officiating. Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be, Kyle Scott, Dylan Fowler, Asa Sanders, Ethan Harper, Derick Maness, Chris Maness, Garrett Fowler and Dusty Gilbert.
