Susan Gayle Moore, a cherished mother, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2024, in Selmer, Tennessee, at the age of 71 years, 6 months, and 14 days. Susan exemplified unwavering love and devotion to her children throughout her life.
Born on October 1, 1952, in Burns, TN, Susan was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Ethel Marie Adcock Auck. She found solace and belonging in her faith as a member of Better Hope Primitive Baptist Church in the Leapwood Community of McNairy County, TN. Her dedication to her church community was a testament to her kind spirit.
Susan pursued her passion for education and graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a bachelor's degree in education. Her teaching journey led her to impact the lives of many students in the Robertson and Fayette County school districts, specializing in special education. Susan's nurturing nature and genuine care for children shone through her work every day.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Susan leaves behind a legacy of love. She is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Billy Wayne Moore; son-in-law, Eric Pharis; sister, Gretchen Hargrove; and brother, John Auck.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Michael Harmon and his wife Audra of Selmer, TN; daughter, Jamie Marie Pharis and fiancé Mat Johnston of Hendersonville, TN; stepson, Randy Wayne Moore and his wife Linda of Iuka, MS; sister, Nancy Hooker and her husband Tommy of Mobile, AL.
Susan will be dearly missed by her six grandchildren: Ryan Oakley Pharis, Leah Avalyn Pharis, Katherine Susan Harmon, Bryson Scott Harmon, Jonathan Lavell Harmon, and Winston Dale Harmon. She also leaves behind her great-niece, Taylor Harmon; as well as a multitude of extended family members and friends whose lives she touched with kindness.
In honoring Susan's memory and the love she shared so abundantly during her time on earth, may we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of compassion and dedication lives on through all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
