Sue McQueen

Sue McQueen, 77, of Pocahontas, passed from this life Wed., May 31, 2023, at Magnolia Regional Healthcare Center in Corinth.

She was born Wednesday, March 27, 1946, in Tippah County, MS, daughter of the late James Thomas Hurt and Nia Maybelle Hatcher Hurt, living most of her life in Hardeman County and a short time in McNairy County.  She married Ralph Randal McQueen on January 25, 1969, and she made their house a home, raising 3 children.  She also worked outside the home for several factories.  She enjoyed gardening and canning and cooking for her family, whom she dearly loved.  Many of her son's friends felt so at home with her, they affectionately called her "Mama Sue".  She had an immense love for the Lord and her church and was known to read as much as she could.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ralph Randal McQueen; three sons, Gary McQueen (Jenny) of Selmer, Larry McQueen (Lauren) of Saulsbury and James T. McQueen of Pocahontas; 10 grandchildren, Jakob Wilson, Alex Tovar, Cole McQueen, Aubree McQueen, Nia McQueen, Anna McQueen, Austin McQueen, Kennon Strickland, Kenyatta Strickland and Kalib Strickland; and two great grandchildren, Ezekiel and Gabriel Rogers.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
