Sonny Samples was born June 7, 1938 in Corinth, Mississippi the son of the late Wesley and Florence Ozell Randolph Samples.
He was united in marriage to Linda Chism on April 7, 1991.
Mr. Samples was a retired truck driver for Miller Transporters in Memphis, TN where he worked for 27 years. Mr. Samples loved his family, friends, church family, horses, and his pets, Harley and Patches. He had lived in Memphis for 44 years prior to returning to McNairy County, where he spent his childhood. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle when his health permitted. Mr. Samples was an active member of the New Vision Baptist Church.
Mr. Samples departed this life on November 29, 2010 in Ramer, Tennessee at the age of 72 Years, 5 Months, 22 Days. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Linda (Chism) Samples of Eastview, TN; a daughter, Virginia Rogers of Mt. Vernon, WA; a son, John Michael Sowell of Memphis, TN; a grandchild, Collin Rogers of Mt. Vernon, WA; two sisters, Barbara Schulze of St. Peters, MO and Shirley Smith of Arab, AL; several nieces, nephews, and their spouses; a number of great-nieces and nephews; and many extended family, special neighbors, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Samples was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Burress and Iverne Samples; and two brothers, James Samples and Travis Samples.
