Shirley Mae Spence

SHIRLEY MAE MAHAR SPENCEwas born in Corinth, Mississippi on March 10, 1926 the daughter of the late John and Velma Gertrude Gann Mahar. On November 18, 1960 she was united in marriage to Barney Joseph Spence, who preceded his wife in death on December 24, 1995.Mrs. Spence was a homemaker. She was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Spence enjoyed painting, needlepoint, quilting, reading, cooking, flowers and gardening and raising children.She departed this life on September 20, 2007 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 10 days.Mrs. Spence is survived by 4 daughters, Sherrie Wink, Jill Davis and Dawna Knox, all of Houston, Texas and Shannon Lamkin of Humble, Texas.2 sons, Thomas Braden and Mark Spence, both of Houston, Texas.10 grandchildren, Paul Krustchinsky, Annette Lambert, Thomas Braden, Jr., Tracie Stricklin, Erik Braden, Dustin Davis, Aaron Davis, Barney Spence, John Lamkin and Kevin Lamkin.9 great-grandchildrenone sister, Tressie Nell Jones of Atlanta, Texas and one brother, John Shaw Mahar, Jr. of McKinney, Texas.Mrs. Spence was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Laura Spence.
