Funeral Services for Shirley Ruth Whitaker Price of Michie, TN will be on Monday, January 21, 2013, 11:00 AM, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with Bro. Malcom George officiating. Interment will be in the Michie Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home in Selmer.
Mr. Price was born April 15, 1930, the daughter of the late George Eldridge and Georgie Evelyn Jones Whitaker. She departed this life on Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Jackson, TN at the age of 82 years, 9 months, 2 days.
She was united in marriage to Harris Gene (Tootsie) Price on July 13, 1951 in Corinth, MS. She was a member of Michie First Baptist Church and was a supervisor at United Pioneer in Corinth for more than 25 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Price loved all her family very much and was a wonderful cook. She was happiest when everyone was together enjoying one of her delicious home cooked meals, especially at Christmas.
Some of Mrs. Price's grandchildren's favorite times were spent at her house. She would take them to get groceries and movies. They made countless memories every Friday night. She enjoyed taking trips with her whole family to Florida and the Great Smokey Mountains and traveling out west.
Mrs. Price is survived by her husband Tootsie Price of Michie; her son, Ronnie Price and wife Kay of Michie; her daughter, Debbie Flatt and husband Ed of Selmer; her son, Roger Price and wife Connie of Corinth; seven grandchildren, Valerie Price Hickman and husband Jimmy of Selmer, Carole Price Kennedy and husband Chris of Bethel Springs, TN, John Price of Selmer, Trey Moore and wife Molly of Stantonville, TN, Beth Moore Fowler and husband Matt of Selmer; Brandon Harvell and wife Nancy of Corinth, Michael Harvell and wife Nikki of Corinth; fourteen great grandchildren, Allie Claire (Dumplin) and Jasper (Pee-Wee) Hickman, Walker and Henry Kennedy, Jack and Spencer Moore, Lillybeth, Luke and Levi Fowler, Nathan and Natalie Harvell, and Cole, Ryder, and Edie Harvell.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Price was preceded in death by two brothers, E. C. Whitaker, and Ray Whitaker.
Pallbearers will be Trey Moore, John Price, Brandon Harvell, Michael Harvell, Jimmy Hickman, and Chris Kennedy.
