Shirley Ervin

September 4, 1935 — April 14, 2007

Shirley Smith Ervin, 71, of Bolivar, died Saturday morning, April 14, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis.



The wife of Norman Gene Ervin, who survives, she was a former teacher and librarian for Hardeman County Schools, Memphis City Schools and started and served as the original librarian at Shelby State Community College. She was born September 4, 1935, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Robert Lee Smith and Myrtle Jernigan Smith and lived here all of her life. Mrs. Ervin was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church.



In addition to her husband, whom she married on October 23, 1955, survivors include two daughters, Pamela Little of Gatlinburg and Joan Blasingame of Bolivar; two sons, Bobby L. Ervin of Memphis and Rob G. Ervin of Bolivar; a sister, Roberta Smith Parramore of Toone; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; a niece, Alisha Parramore; a great niece, Kristen Parramore; and two great nephews, Andrew and Aiden Parramore.



She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Mae Smith and a brother, Henry B. Parramore, Jr.
