Mrs. Bartling passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The wife of James 'Jim' Bartling, who survives, she worked as a secretary in medical records with Hardeman County Correctional Facility until becoming disabled in 2000. She was born December 31, 1949, in Henderson, the daughter of Judy Abernathy Kinney of Bells and the late Asbury Whitten Kinney and lived in this area since 1990. Her grandfather, Orpheus Abernathy was the early owner of the McNairy County Independent and her great grandfather, Matthew Ramsey Abernathy was the first county superintendent. Mrs. Bartling was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on April 6, 1978, and her mother, survivors include a son, Keith Bartling of Oakland; a daughter, Kelly Bishop of Whiteville; two brothers, David Abernathy Kinney of Whiteville and Charles Howard Kinney of Bells; and three grandsons, Zachary Allen Bishop, Thomas Brandon Bishop and Keith Andrew Bartling, Jr.
