Sherry Lynn Dickey was born September 8, 1954 in Selmer, TN, daughter of Opal and James Knight. She was united in marriage in 1983 to her cherished husband, Perry “Chub” Dickey. They built a beautiful life together for 41 years.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a laugh that could fill the room and a personality larger than life. She was the mother anyone would be lucky to have, never having missed a football, basketball, baseball game or a golf tournament. She loved her boys more than words could explain. Sherry was also a proud grandmother. She loved baking with her grandchildren and passing down her famous recipes for chocolate oatmeal cookies and homemade rolls.
Sherry not only loved and cared for her family, but also her patients during her 22 years as an RN. She could always reference people or places based on families she served and routes she drove as a Home Health nurse.
She filled the Dickey home with cherished belongings. Each piece meant something to her. Every wall and corner of the house is covered in “Sherry”. She loved interior design, Blue Willow China, and especially decorating their home at Christmas time.
Sherry departed this life, surrounded by her loved ones, on December 11, 2024 in Memphis, TN, at the age of 70 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Perry Dickey, of Ramer, TN; children: Josh Dickey and wife Toni of Ramer, TN, Jordan Dickey and wife Jessica of Ramer, TN; her five grandchildren: Nora, Kate, Mia, Ford, and Bryce; her mother Opal Rinehart of Ramer, TN; brother, Gary Knight and wife Robbie of Michie, TN; nephew, Chris Knight of Michie, TN; and a host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Knight; stepfather, Jim Rinehart; Grandfather, Gleason Kinchen; Grandmother, Ida Mae Kinchen; and daughter, Jennifer, with whom we are certain she’s had a joyous reunion.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations in Sherry’s honor to one of her favorite charities: LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the ASPCA.
