Sherron William Philyaw, 77, of Middleton, departed this life Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Pine Meadows Healthcare Center in Bolivar.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama to Sherrill W. and Thelma Lee Martin Williams, she was a homemaker. She was born and raised as the youngest of three girls in the Eastlake Area of Birmingham and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1963. She was married in 1964 to Rev. William David Philyaw, who passed in 2003, and traveled with him while he was in the military and later in the ministry, coming to Tennessee in 1982. A member of the Pocahontas Baptist Church, Mrs. Philyaw was an avid reader of her Bible, quick to share a smile and to remind others that "God is so good and he is with us all the time!" She enjoyed sewing and attending church services and activities. She will be greatly missed by her friends at Pine Meadows where she received the "Resident of the Month" award and by her family who loved her deeply.
Survivors include her daughter Jan Stewart and her husband David of Middleton; her son, Robert Philyaw and his wife Kathy of Signal Mountain, TN; two sisters, Mary Hilyer of Jemison, AL and Martha Loveland and her husband Larry of Birmingham, AL; and by three grandchildren, Benjamin Philyaw and Katie Philyaw of Chattanooga, and Jessica Stewart, of Middleton. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
