Sherrel Pirtle

Sherrel Pirtle, 90, of Bolivar, died Wednesday evening, June 22, 2005 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.



The husband of Margaret Ervin Pirtle, who survives, he was a boiler room supervisor at Western Mental Health Institute for 30 years before he retired in 1980. Mr. Pirtle was born February 16, 1915 in Toone, son of the late Claude Hill Pirtle and Maude Estelle Brooks Pirtle. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European campaign and was a member of Parrans Chapel Baptist Church.



Services were 11 AM Friday, June 24, 2005 at Shackelford's Chapel in Bolivar with Doug Baker officiating. Burial was at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery with Ben, Ryan and Tommy Zawacki, Tony Terry, Zeke Craft and Jerry Mayfield serving as casket bearers with Timmy Moss and Johnny Breeden as alternates and Joe Eastham, Denver Smith, Junior Vincent, Max Grant, Ken Craft and Brad Vandiver serving as honorary casket bearers.



In addition to his wife, whom he married October 12, 1963, he is survived by one daughter and her husband, Shirley Marie & Buddy Crick of Oakfield; one son and his wife, Sam & Ginger Pirtle of Jackson; one grandaughter, Susan Pirtle; one great granddaughter, Shelby Bunkley; one great grandson, Zachery Neal Johnson; nieces and their husbands, Paula & Tony Terry of Jackson, Kay & Tommy Zawacki of Bolivar, Donna & Jerry Mayfield of Bolivar and Rita & Frankie Kee of Oakland; nephews, Steve Ervin and his wife, Kim, Dale Ervin and family and Randy Ervin, all of Bolivar; great nieces,

Ashley and Becky Ervin, both of Bolivar and great nephews, Ryan and Ben Zawacki, Bradley Mayfield, all of Bolivar and Gary Kee of Oakland.
