Riverside, CA: Shelbin Malone Sells, age 89 passed away December 17, 2010.
He was born and reared in Madison County, Pinson, the son of the late John Clint and Annie Marion Mitchell Sells. He attended schools at Pinson and entered the U. S. Navy in 1939 and did duty in the North Atlantic escorting British convoys and then to the South Pacific and escorted convoys throughout the South Pacific Island. He then served at Pearl Harbor after it was attached. He returned home in 1946 and was married to Louise Magner of Wisconsin. He went to diesel mechanic school in Wisconsin and worked there for eleven years and moved to San Francisco, CA for seven years and then to Brooklyn, NY and then to Anaheim, CA where he bagan working with Minute Maid where he worked until he retired in 1982. He moved to Chester County in 1982 and worked in security at Freed-Hardeman University until August 2006. He returned to California to be near his children.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #485 of Henderson and Shrines Temple of Anaheim, CA. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Magner Sells and two grandchildren, Nicole Tomlin and Ronda Leonard all of CA.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Malone Sells and a daughter, Rosemary Tomlin in 2009 and a sister Verlin Jeter, also four brothers, Vonsel Sells, John Sells, Clive Sells and Bill Sells.
