Shed D. Youngwas born in Mathiston, Mississippi on July 22, 1925 the son of the late Charles Henry and Virginia Levonni Breland Young.Mr. Young was a graduate of Mississippi State University and worked as a District Conservationist with the United States Department of Agriculture for approximately 30 years. Mr. Young had served in the Coast Guard during World War II and participated in the initial Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach. He was a resident of Savannah, Tennessee since 1960 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Young loved watching college football, the outdoors, and was a loyal Mississippi State Bulldog fan. Mr. Young departed this life on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the age of 84 years, 11 months, 16 days.He is survived by 2 sons, Mike D. Young and wife Bonnie and Ronald Young all of Savannah, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, Katie Young and Clay Young; a great granddaughter, Ava Beth Young; 3 sisters, Virginia Dowdy, Oreeve Stephenson, and Helen Griffin all of Mississippi; and a special friend, Edna White.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Aillene Thompson Young on April 30, 1999; 3 brothers, Fred, Henry, and Edmond Young; 4 sisters, Joy Harpole, Elaine Oswalt, Mavis Graves, and Jimmie Blaine.
