Sharon Irene Foster Hughes

Sharon Irene Foster Hughes was born in Savannah, Tennessee on January 31, 1948, the daughter of the late J.W. and Martha Siebert Foster. On September 5, 1970, she was united in marriage to Carlos Hughes, Jr.

Sharon continued living in Hardin County until 1973, when she and her family moved to Stoddard County, Missouri. In 1988, they moved to Lexington, Tennessee, where she lived, worked and raised her family. She was a member of Solitude Freewill Baptist Church and retired from Caywood Elementary School where she was a cook.

Sharon Irene Foster Hughes departed this life on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at the age of 73 years and 17 days. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, Carlos Hughes, Jr. of Lexington, Tennessee, Sharon is survived by her children, Bethany Slusher and her husband Carl of Lexington, Tennessee, Christopher Hughes and his wife Michelle of Huntingdon, Tennessee, and Shannon Hughes of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; grandchildren, Nicholas Slusher, Ana Taylor, Addison Taylor, Avery Taylor, Austin Taylor, and Shannon Slusher; and great grandchildren, Trinity Slusher Talbott, Mary Talbott, Kinsley Talbott, Audrey Slusher, Ailley Slusher, Alexy Slusher, Sampson Slusher, and Ainsley Prestage.

Along with her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Lynn Hughes and her brother, James "Jim" Charles Foster.
