Mrs. Sarah V. Wilhite of Bolivar departed this life at the age of 88 Thursday, January 31, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Wilhite was born in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee September 13, 1924 to the late Solomon Alexander and Emma Bailey Vest. On June 6, 1946 at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to Dr. Richard English Wilhite, Sr. and the two moved to Bolivar in 1953. Dr. Wilhite preceded her in death June 17, 1998.
She earned a two year degree from Bowling Green (KY) Business College and worked as the secretary at Bolivar Elementary School from 1971 to 1990. She was active in the community as a member of the Hatchie Chapter of the DAR, the VFW Women's Auxiliary, the secretary for Loaves and Fishes, and the Bolivar First United Methodist Church where she was in the Wesleyan Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed boating and fishing.
Survivors include five sons, Richard E. Wilhite and wife Judy of Auburn, AL, Larry D. Wilhite and wife Teresa of Winchester, Jerry V. Wilhite and wife Carla of Bolivar, Harold L. Wilhite and wife Paula of Bolivar, and Frank L. Wilhite and wife Christy of Bolivar; ten grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard E. Wilhite III; and two brothers, Ruskin A. Vest and Lewis Vest.
