Sarah L. Jenkins, 85, of Bolivar, died Monday, November 3, 2008 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. A native of Hornsby, she was the daughter of the late Dude and Ollie Hatch Pierce and lived most of her life in Bolivar and 17 years in Memphis. She was the widow of the late Samuel B. Jenkins, who died April 13, 1996. She was a member of the Bolivar First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, was Past-President of the Golden Sounds Choir, President of the Keen-Agers and member of the WMU. Mrs. Jenkins was a retired bookkeeper and dental assistant, having been a past member of the American Dental Assistants Association. For 17 years, she and her husband owned Jenkins Outlet Store in Bolivar. She was also a Past-President of the American Legion Auxiliary. She leaves as her survivors, a sister, Fern Hopson of Memphis; two nephews, Michael Hopson and his wife, Sharon, of Memphis and Dr. Blake Barton, I, of Tampa, FL; 3 great-nephews, Jeremy Hopson, Blake Barton, II and Tyler Henson; 2 great-nieces, Jennifer Hopson and Shelby Barton. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Barton and a brother, Dean Pierce.
