Sarah Blanton Gray

Adamsville

Sarah Blanton Gray was born on January 28, 1932, in Adamsville, TN, the daughter of late parents Ova A. Delaney and Leonard A. Blanton and sister of the late Gov. Ray Blanton. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee in 1953 and married Robert A. Gray Jr. on September 5, 1953, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2014.

They moved to California in 1954, where she worked at Kaiser-Permanente as a pharmacist from 1960 until her retirement in 1995, beloved by all her peers. She moved to Lafayette, CA shortly after that and dedicated her life to her family, living the rest of her days in the Bay Area. She passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023, in Walnut Creek, CA.

Mrs. Gray is survived by her brother, Gene Blanton of Franklin, TN; her children, Cherryl Gray and Stephen Gray; her grandchildren Amarintha Orvis and Rebecca Kang-Gray; her step-grandchildren Trina Piceno and Tony Valencia; and her sister-in-heart Sarah Walker.
