Sara Anita Griffin Parris Skelton was born July 3, 1929 to Sam and Christine Griffin of Gillsville, Georgia. Mrs. Skelton died August 11, 2015 in Savannah, Tennessee. She was married to William Benson Parris from 1950 to 1986 in which he preceded her in death. Also, was married to Clarence Skelton of Riverdale, Georgia from 1990 to 2010 and preceded her in death.
Sara was a registered nurse training and working in Emory at Crawford W. Long Hospital now Emory University at Mid Town, Atlanta, Georgia and in Clarinda, Iowa. She stayed active through her lifetime volunteering in the Red Cross Blood Mobiles, PTA's, Savannah Auxillary, and taught a nursing assistant course through the Hardin County School System in the 60's in Savannah, Tennessee. She was a homemaker who loved cooking, her flowers and spending time with all her children, grandchildren, great grandchild and many friends. She never meet a stranger. Mrs. Parris was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Savannah since the 50's.
She leaves four children, Susan V. Parris, Elaine Grisham and husband, Bruce and Benson Parris DDS and wife Denise all from Savannah, Tennessee, also Bill Parris DDS, MS and wife Carla of Germantown, Tennessee. Sara further left ten grandchildren: Lee and John Bruce Grisham, Sara Elizabeth and Kathleen Parris, Nathaniel, Chandler, Austin, Noah, deceased, Elijah and Micah Parris and one great grandchild, Benjamin Grisham. She also leaves a sister, Aranette Walker and a niece, Patty Walker and two nephews, Tim and Krist Walker of Atlanta, Georgia. She had many cousins, other relatives and friends in Gillsville, Georgia.
