Mr. Samuel Ricky Avent of Bolivar departed this life at the age of 54 years, 4 months and 28 days Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Bolivar General Hospital.
Mr. Avent was born in Hardeman County August 29, 1958 to the late Phenton and Ena Adams Avent. On March 14, 2003, he was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Donna Hammons Avent, who survives. He worked for 29 years with Thompson Glass Company in Jackson and was an avid sportsman. He loved to hunt and fish and qualified for the World Archery Championship for five consecutive years in the late 80s and early 90s. Having previously lived in Madison County and Chester County, he moved back to Hardeman County twelve years ago and was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Melissa Hampton, Melinda Bryant and Meranda Howell and five grandchildren, Paige Hampton, Brianna and Kaleb Bryant, Colin Henson and Ellie Cate Howell; six sisters, Emily Hammons of Bolivar, Elizabeth McCommon of Piperton, Hazel Aldrich of Ketchikan, Alaska, Hester Cardenas of Bolivar, Georgia Philip of Germantown and Elaine Haino of Waieahu, Hawaii; one brother, Bill Avent of Columbia; and ten nieces and nephews.
