Sammy H. Edwards was born November 16, 1939, to Aldon and Faye Edwards. He grew up in Bells, Tennessee, and attended elementary and high school. He graduated from UT at Martin in 1962. He was a charter member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He joined the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged as a corporal of the Marine Reserves. He married Janey Covey Edwards on August 4, 1963, in Savannah, Tennessee. He went to work for Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company (now PCA) in November of 1963. He retired as a maintenance supervisor after 34 years. For four years after retirement, he worked for the City of Savannah Parks and Recreation. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janey, and son, Levin, and daughter, Elizabeth, all of Savannah. Other survivors include two sisters, Ann Edwards and Jacqueline Permenter (Ray) and one brother, Joe Edwards (El) all of Bells, Tennessee.
