Sammie Don Stinnett

December 11, 1938 — March 13, 2006

Sammie Don Stinnett, Sr., 67, of Collierville and Grand Valley Lakes, Tenn., died early Monday morning, March 13, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville.



The husband of Ruth Jenkins Stinnett, who survives, he was a certified dental technician at Stinnett Dental Lab in Memphis for 40 years. Mr. Stinnett was born December 11, 1938 in Adamsville, son of the late Richard and Audie Kemp Stinnett and lived there until he was 16 years old. He resided in Memphis for 20 years before making his home in Collierville 25 years ago. Mr. Stinnett served in the U. S. Navy and was a member of the National Dental Lab Association. He owned property at Grand Valley Lakes since 1991 and enjoyed living there very much and saw it as his “refuge”. He loved to golf, was an avid University of Tennessee fan, loved NASCAR and was Methodist in belief.



Services were 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Keith Hayworth officiating. Burial was in Grand Junction City Cemetery.



In addition to his wife, whom he married June 15, 1991, survivors include one son, Don Stinnett, Jr. of Collierville; two daughters, Lynn Stinnett Henderson of Collierville and Laura Leigh Stinnett of Olive Branch, Miss.; two step-sons, Charles Tanner Clifft of Collierville and Brian Hugh Clifft of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Tress Nell Brasfield of Germantown; one brother, Mackie Stinnett of Horn Lake, Miss. and three grandchildren, Katie and Sam Henderson and Houston Stinnett. He was preceded in death by one brother, Paulis Stinnett.
