Sally Nola Webb

August 25, 1917 — April 18, 2007

She was born and raised in Chester County in New Friendship Community, the daughter of the late Frank and Cora Peddy Seaton. She grew up in a large house on Mifflin Road with her parents and her ten brothers and sisters. Until she moved to the nursing home she never lived out of sight of that home.

She attended Bray and New Friendship grammar schools and graduated Chester County High School in 1933, where her favorite subjects were French and Math.

She was married to John Murray Webb in 1935. They made their home in the New Friendship Community where they raised cotton and milked cows. Mr. Webb preceded her in death in 1977.

In 1963 she started work at Salant and Salant factory in Henderson. She enjoyed the friendship and companionship of the other women at the plant, retiring in 1980.

Her favorite things were working, being outside, and going to church. She disliked housework but loved to work in the garden or field. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church where she enjoyed services and was always a willing worker at church activities. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, and always active in the summer Vacation Bible School. She was a clerk for the Friendship Community Club and the New Friendship Home Demonstration Club.

She leaves four daughters, Julia Webb Parchman of Jackson, June Webb Findley (Harry) of Jonesboro, AR, Mary Webb Lightsey and Janice Webb Brown (Keith) of Henderson; two sons, John Murray Webb, Jr. (Charlotte) and James A. Webb, (Rene’) of Henderson; three sisters, Velma Sells and Maureen Talley, both of Henderson and Allene Frix of Memphis; two brothers, F.L. Seaton of Henderson and George Seaton of San Bernardino, California; eleven grandchildren, Sonja Manuel, Jay Parchman, Alvin Stewart, April Stewart, Anne Rucker, Beth Lightsey, Cindy Cooper, Jennifer Woodfin, Desiree’ Bawcum, Denee’ Brown, and Brittney Denbow.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hubert Seaton, Joe Neal Seaton, and Willard Seaton; and two sisters, Clara Mae Moody, and Catherine Johnson.
