Sadie Lou Mathis, age 77, of Pocahontas, died Friday, February 10, 2012 at Mississippi Care Center in Corinth, Mississippi.
Born June 17, 1934 in Hornsby, she was the daughter of the late John Leonard and Carrie Ocylee Price Ingle. Living most of her life in Hardeman County, she was a river boat cook and had once owned her own restaurant. She married James Horace Mathis, February 12, 1953, who died July 23, 2001 after 48 years of marriage. Mrs. Mathis was a member of the Pocahontas First Baptist Church.
She leaves as her survivors 3 daughters, Pam (John Babcock) Simpson of Selmer, Wanda (Landon) Shearon and Merrie (Tommy) McQueen both of Pocahontas; a brother, Wendell Ingle of New Albany, MS; a sister Bonnie Vaughn of Pocahontas; 7 grandchildren, Billy Wilkerson, Bryan McQueen, Jerry Sims, Chad McQueen, Matt Shearon, Christy Cherkesky, and Stacy Marcum; and 9 great grandchildren, Seth Wilkerson, Clayton Wilkerson, Thomas McQueen, Andrew Sims, Riley Sims, Lauryn Shearon, Hallie McKinnie, Tyler Marcum, and Waylon Marcum.
