Mr. Ryce R. Kimery, age 94 of Grand Junction, departed this life Monday morning, March 5, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Benton County, Mississippi December 17, 1917 to the late James Franklin and Mary Lula Umbarger Kimery. Mr. Kimery served his country in the United States Army Infantry during World War II in the Aleutian Islands and received the Ageatic-Pacific Campaign Medal for his service. He also served with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was united in marriage to Ruth Logan on December 5, 1940. Mrs. Kimery preceded him in death on February 11, 2003.
A native of Hamilton County, Mississippi, he moved to the Hardeman County area in 1957 where he worked as a dairy farmer at Ames Plantation. He was a member Grand Junction Baptist Church, the VFW in Bolivar and the Moose Lodge in Bolivar. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife and was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and horticulturist.
He leaves as his survivors a daughter, Anita Faye Graves of Pensacola, FL; two sons, Larry Dean Kimery and wife Judy of Trenton, TN, and Kerry Glenn Kimery and wife Ronni of Grand Junction, TN; a sister-in-law, Lucille Kimery of Tupelo, MS; ten grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
