Ruth Edith Morris

Ruth Edith Morris was born August 10, 1925 in Chester County, Tennessee the daughter of the late William Roy and Minnie Mae Rhodes Nobles. She graduated from Chester Co. High School. She was married to John A. Morris in 1946. Mr. Morris preceded her in death on July 7, 1962. Mrs. Morris was Chester Co. Tax Assessor for 15 years, later working for the State of Tennessee in the Business License Tax Division. She also served as Secretary Treasurer for the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officials for 10 years. She retired in 1980 . She was a member of the Holly Springs United Methodist Church.She is survived by four daughters, Linda Dowdy and husband Jerry of Henderson, TN, Vicky Morris of Henderson, TN, Judy Sweatt of Pinson, TN, Julia McCoy of Henderson, TN; a son, John A Morris Jr. of Henderson, TN; a sister, Shirley Grantham and husband Wilson of Juliet, IL; 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, and two nieces and two nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs.Morris was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Lindsey.
