Ruth R. Moore was born June 9, 1912 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late James Edgar and Lillie Morrison Reaves Moore.
Mrs. Moore, a centenarian, has witnessed first hand the history of our country. During her 107 years, there has been the inauguration of 19 U.S. Presidents; seven wars from World War I and II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam, Gulf War, War in Afghanistan and the Iraq War and Insurgency; The Great Depression; first long distance telephone service; solo flight of Lindberg; and the first U.S. astronaut to orbit the earth. With her passing, we have truly lost the first hand account of the last 100 plus years.
Mrs. Moore loved spending time with her family and was always ready for a trip. If you ever had the pleasure of visiting of her home, she made sure you left with a full belly and a happy heart. She was a true southern lady who loved with her whole heart and was ready to care for others if needed. Her family shared that she was VERY independent and often, in her later years, Mrs. Moore would say, "she didn't know why the Lord was leaving her here?" Her family and friends knew why: she was a blessing and a jewel to be treasured. She was a member of Selmer Second Baptist Church.
If Mrs. Moore could say one last thing to her family it would be, "I'm alright - don't worry about me."
Mrs. Moore departed this life on December 8, 2019 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 107 Years, 5 Months, 29 Days. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Cook of Cordova, TN, Doris Choate of Southaven, MS, Juanita Ackley of Delzel, SC; 10 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great Great Grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
