Ruth Duke
was born in Chester County, Tennessee on December 25, 1922 the daughter of the late James Edgar and Hattie Flatt Smith.
In 1942, she was united in marriage to William Johnson Duke, who preceded her in death in 1944. Mrs. Duke was a homemaker who had lived most of her life in Hardin County and a member of Cedar Grove Pentecostal Church.
She departed this life on November 7, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 13 days.
Mrs. Duke is survived by her son, William Duke and his wife, Mary, of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; 3 grandsons: Edward Duke and his wife, Rita, Danny Duke and his wife, Pam, and Nathan Duke and his wife, Myra; 8 great-grandchildren: Harmony, Justin, Bethany, Melody, Lashauna, Tyler, Denee and LoriAnn; and 3 sisters: Martha Stanfill of Savannah, Tennessee, Willie Creamer of Nashville, Tennessee and Nola Proctor of Holton, Michigan.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Eva Cummings, Artie Mae Marshall and Audrey Wilson.
