Russell Walton

Russell Walton, age 87 of Toone, passed away 22 September 2008 at Bolivar General Hospital.The widower of Juanita Sturdivant Walton, who preceded him in death in 1994, he was a retired plant supervisor for Dixco in Memphis. He had worked there for over 60 years. He was born January 1, 1921 to the late Charlie Ray and Flossie Babb Walton in Hardeman County. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II and was awarded the Medal of Valor. He lived in Memphis for many years before retiring to Toone in 1985. He was a former member of the Toone Ruritan Club and had attended Toone Baptist years ago.Survivors include two sons, Steve Ray Walton of Toone, James Russell Walton of Walnut Creek, CA; one sister, Ann Price of Greenville, TN; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
