Rubye Odessa Tanner

Rubye Odessa Barnes Tanner was born September 2, 1932 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late John Henry and Myrtle Estelle Horton Barnes.She was united in marriage to James Louis Tanner who preceded her in death on August 21, 1999.Mrs. Tanner was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee. She was also a member of the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary in Farmville, North Carolina for 5 years where she was chosen as Volunteer of the year.She departed this life on February 28, 2007 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 74 Years, 5 Months, 26 Days. Mrs. Tanner is survived by a daughter, Sheila Willis of Selmer, Tennessee; four sons, Joel L. Gant of Selmer, Tennessee, Tim A. Gant of Alabaster, Alabama, Michael L. Tanner of Norfolk, Virginia, and James B. Tanner of Selmer, Tennessee; 13 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Ann Hamm Younger and two brothers, John Olen Barnes and Kenneth Gerome Barnes.
