Rubye A. Mullen, 95, of Hatchie Station died Thursday morning, November 17, 2005 at her home.
She was born November 26, 1909 in Hickory Valley, Tenn., daughter of the late Sherman and Annie May Shearon Mannon. She married W. H. “Bill†Mullen in May of 1942 and had lived in Hatchie Station since then. She was a homemaker and ran the Madison County penal farm for several years with her husband, who died December 8, 1983. Mrs. Mullen was Baptist by belief and was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.
Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with the Rev. Calvin Moore officiating. Burial was in Vernon Cemetery in Hardeman County with Vic Collins, Doug Elston, Jay Jackson, Richard Lewis, Dr. Ben J. Lifsey, Mike and Charlie Ross and Bobby Stringfellow serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were James Belch, Albert Carter, Charles Caviness, David Farr, Charlie Luke, David Patrick, Dovey Stafford and Bobby Stokely.
Surviving are her son, William “Don†Mullen of Hatchie Station; a granddaughter, Donna Marie Mullen Livingston and her husband, Chase of Nashville and former daughter-in-law, Mary Margaret Mullen of Jackson. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Sam Mannon, Etheridge Mannon, Louise Logan, Hazel Hopkins, Thelma Nuckolls and Mable Lipsky.
