Ruby McCasland Wright

October 3, 1924 — May 31, 2022

Ruby Marie McCasland born October 3, 1924, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of Andrew Franklin “Frank” McCasland and Nina Annie Wilson McCasland. On July 10, 1954, she was united in marriage to Arch Wilber Wright, who preceded her in death on May 7, 2002.

Ruby was a bookkeeper at the Grady Qualls Service Station in Savannah and the Prospect National Bank in Peoria, Illinois. After retiring in 1975, she did some private duty nursing at the Hardin County General Hospital for people that needed special care.

Ruby was a friendly, outgoing person, she loved her family and friends. She loved to cook, cross-stitch, needle point, and crocheting afghans. But she had another hobby that she called her “therapy” and that was working in her yard and flowers, and that paid off in more ways than one. She received the “Yard of the Week” recognition for eight years straight from the Savannah Garden Club. Most of all Ruby loved God, Christ, and his church. She taught a children’s Bible class at West Lake in Peoria, Illinois and Savannah Heights Church of Christ for many years.

Ruby McCasland Wright departed this life on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the age of 97 years, 7 months, and 28 days.

Ruby is survived by her sister, Sue Harris of Savannah, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caretaker, Linda Irvin.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her sons, Bobby Wright and Larry Wright; and brothers, Burgess McCasland, Grady McCasland, and John McCasland.
