Ruby Estlee West

Ruby Estlee West was born December 2, 1924 in Purdy, TN, the daughter of the late Willie R Gann and Sudie Holmes Gann. She departed this life on September 15, 2023 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 98 Years, 9 Months, 13 Days.

She was united in marriage to Elmer William West on May 10, 1943. Mr. West preceded her in death on December 11, 2002.

Ruby was a member of the Court Avenue Cumberland Church in Selmer, Tennessee. She worked for Brown Shoe Company for many years. Later she wholeheartedly lent her skills to most of the diners within the town of Selmer during the 1960's through the early 70’s. She loved to travel when she could, and enjoyed meeting and talking to people wherever she went. She was a devout Christian and would read her Bible every evening before bed.

She is survived by a daughter, Gwelda Treece; three grandchildren: William Sherman Treece, Jana Gail Treece, Jennifer Combs Finley; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. West was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Combs; three sisters, Ruth Sullivan, Peggy Lipford, Gwen Henry; two brothers, Harold Gann, Gerald Thomas Gann.
