She was born and reared in the Cabo Community, daughter of the late Joe Kent and Zilphia Hollin Bishop. She attended school in Chester County and in 1928 was married to Paris Melton of the Sweet Lips Community, and they made their home in Chester County all their married life. Mr. Melton died in 1974. She was later married to Hooper Weaver of Jackson and they made their home in Adamsville, Mr. Weaver died in 1991 and Ruby continued to live in Adamsville. She was employed by Salant and Salant of Henderson from 1949 until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of the Henderson Chapter
# 120 of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1976. She was also a member of the Sweet Lips Baptist Church. She had made her home in Henderson since 2003.
She is survived by a daughter- Mrs. Laverne Austin of Henderson and husband Guy, two brothers George Henry Bishop of Henderson, and Tommy Bishop of Milledgeville, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
