Ruby Austin was born July 17, 1934 in Sardis, Tennessee and departed this life at her home in Bartlett, Tennessee at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 5 days.
She graduated from Sardis High School in 1954 and worked several years in factories in the Sardis, Tennessee area. She moved to Memphis in 1966 and retired from the City of Memphis in 1997.
Ruby was a Child of God and was baptized in 1954. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church until she joined Macon Road Baptist Church in 2006 where she served in the AM coffee and donut area until 2 weeks before she was called to go to her heavenly home.
In her early years, she made quilts. Later on, she was always making some type of crafts which she gave to her family and Sunday School Classes.
Ruby didn't have any children but she treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She loved them very much.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Austin in 1996 and Lela Austin in 2003 and 2 brothers, Tommy Austin in 1979 and Roy Austin in 2004.
Ruby is survived by her sister, Carolyn Austin; 2 brothers, Ray Austin and Fay (Annie) Austin; 5 nieces, Tina (David) Hare, Donna Latham, Haley Latham, Jana (Danny) Woods, and Madison McCullar; and 6 nephews, Joe Austin, Dwayne Austin, James (Bobbie) Austin, Jesse Austin, Garrett Reid, and Michael Woods.
