Rubel Nixon was born November 13, 1932 in McNairy County, TN, the son of the late Homer Clement and Rose Ann Bryant Nixon.
Rubel was a faithful member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Middleton, Tennessee. He retired from TDOT and served our country in the U.S. Army. Rubel loved reading his bible, camping, cooking, and his family, especially spending time with his grandkids. He was known to many as the "Bubble Gum Man", since he passed out bubble gum to people almost on a daily basis. Rubel loved life and visiting with others. You could not help but to love someone so giving.
Mr. Nixon departed this life on January 29, 2016 in Pocahontas, Tennessee at the age of 83 Years, 2 Months, 16 Days.
He is survived by a grandson, Jeremy Michael Wilson (Sonya) of Finger, TN; two sisters, Kathaleen Faye Smith of Lawton, TN, Lula Ann Beyer (Toby) of Hornsby, TN; a brother, Larry Wade Nixon of Adamsville, TN; four great grandchildren: Shaw Wilson, Brynn Wilson, Jacob Williams (Madison) and Chelsey Williams.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nixon was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mae Locke Nixon; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Wilson; an infant son, James Lee Nixon; a granddaughter, Alicia Nichole Wilson; two sisters, Lessie Lou Kiser and Willie Lee Goodrum; and a brother, Julius Herbert Nixon.
