Ross Hewitt Witherspoon, Jr., 94, of Grand Junction, died Thursday evening, June 28, 2007 at his home.
The husband of Virginia Rogers Witherspoon, who survives, he was a farmer, mail carrier and grocery store owner. Mr. Witherspoon was born March 16, 1913 in Grand Junction, son of the late Ross Hewitt Witherspoon, Sr. and Alice Porter Witherspoon and lived most of his life around Grand Junction. He graduated from Grand Junction High School and was Presbyterian in belief.
In addition to his wife, whom he married March 5, 1941, he leaves his niece, Carolyn Taylor; several more nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ross Hewitt Witherspoon, III; one sister, Katharine Koonce and two brothers, Edward Porter and William Carl Witherspoon.
