Roscoe Turnbo
was born in Perry County, Tennessee on May 22, 1917 the son of the late Hugh and Ada Depriest Turnbo.
On April 22, 1939 he was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Jones, who survives.
Mr. Turnbo had lived in Saltillo, Tennessee since 1945. He was self-employed as a farmer, he won Tennessee Farmer of the Year in 1961 and had also worked for the Hardin County Department of Education as a School Bus Driver. Mr. Turnbo was a member of the Saltillo First Baptist Church, Free Masons, and the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was an avid hunter, enjoying hunting deer and duck.
Mr. Turnbo departed this life on December 27, 2010 at the age of 93 years, 7 months, 5 days.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, James Glenn Turnbow of Gallatin, Tennessee, Austin J. Turnbow of Jackson, Tennessee and Rudolph Turnbow of Saltillo, Tennessee; 2 daughters, Charlotte Jean Turnbow Finley of Saltillo, Tennessee and Sheila Dean Turnbow Pollock of Huron, Tennessee; 2 brothers, Leland Turnbo of Sardis, Tennessee and Homer Turnbo of Savannah, Tennessee; a sister, Ruby Turnbo Sollis of Sardis, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren, Jason Turnbow, Caroline Cavaness, Byron Turnbow, Todd Turnbow, Mark Turnbow, Tina Worley, Keith Turnbow, Kirk Turnbow, Laura Springer, Christopher Pollock, Dean Pollock, Lisa Newbill, and Kevin Turnbow; 15 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Turnbo was preceded in death by a son, Leon "Pete" Turnbo; 3 brothers, Harl Turnbo, Richard Turnbo, and Clyde Turnbo; 3 sisters, Nellie Culp, Lillian McGlotherin, and Altie Cowen; 2 grandchildren, Brad Turnbow and Tim Turnbow.
