On Friday, April 9, Ron Sebastian died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Mr. Sebastian was a resident of Collierville, Tennessee and was a retiree of the Internal Revenue Service. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Sebastian graduated from the University of Detroit and immediately embarked on a career with the Internal Revenue Service. This career led him to Washington, DC, where he worked for 25 years and later to Memphis, where he served as the IRS Commissioner's Liaison to the Department of Labor regarding IRS and Labor's joint responsibility for the nationwide pension program. While working in Washington, DC, Mr. Sebastian lived in Columbia, Maryland, where he was active in the community. He served as President of the Long Reach Neighborhood Association.
He continued to be active in the community when he moved to Collierville. He delivered Meals on Wheels, served as the Treasurer of Faith Lutheran Church, and was active in the "Men of Faith" at the church. Mr. Sebastian was honored as the Les Passees "Man of the Year" in 2006. He was also part-owner and General Manager of Bolivar Memorial Cemetery in Bolivar, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Ross Sebastian; a son, Steven Sebastian; and two daughters, Sheryl Sebastian and Cindy Sebastian Jenkins. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren, Storm Sebastian and Angela, Tony and Curtis Jenkins. He also leaves his mother, Rose Sebastian of Mesa, Arizona; and a brother, Richard Sebastian of Shelby Township, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Joan Sebastian; his father, Frank Sebastian; and a brother, Bob Sebastian.
