Roger Dale Gray, age 77, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, in his hometown of Adamsville, Tennessee. Born on December 25, 1947, Dale was a pillar of strength and warmth in his family and community, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Dale dedicated many years of his life to the tire service industry, retiring from Gray Brothers Tire Service, a business he founded with his brother Gerald. The shop was more than just a workplace; it was a gathering place for the Gray Boys, a place where family and friends could come together and share stories.
A proud veteran, Dale served in the United States Army for four years, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant in the Infantry. His service was marked by bravery and dedication, earning him several honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with four campaign stars, the Combat Infantryman's Badge (M-16), the Sharpshooter Badge, and the Purple Heart.
Dale was an Adamsville High School graduate, Class of 1965, and remained deeply rooted in his community throughout his life. His passions extended beyond work; he loved to watch his granddaughter Hayley Bug play sports and support her in all her activities. Dale cherished the time spent with his son and family, finding joy in simple pleasures such as eating sweets, boating, camping, and riding his side-by-side.
His family held a special place in his heart. Dale is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Nancy Mills Gray; his daughters, Michele McDaniel and husband Joey and Marsha Brewer and husband David; a son, Michael Gray and wife Shawnee; his granddaughter, Hayley Beth Brewer; and two step-grandchildren, Kelsey Dill and Matthew Lineberry. He was also a step-great-grandfather to Kamdyn, Kollyns, and Banks Dill. Dale is also survived by two sisters, Betty Ashe and husband Danny and Doris Leonard and husband R. B., along with his sisters-in-law, Gail, Erline, and Cathy Gray; a special great niece, Shelbe Lynn; his brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his father, W. C. (Jack) Gray, his mother, Thankful Treece Gray, and his brothers Larry, Gerald, and Roy Neal Gray, as well as sisters-in-law Brenda Joyce Mills and Brenda Haggard Mills.
