Robert E. Smith, Sr.

Rev. Robert E Smith, Sr. of Michie, TN departed this life on August 1, 2016 at the age of 91 Years, 24 Days. He was born July 8, 1925 in Waterloo, AL the son of the late George Sidney and Emma Franks Smith. He was united in marriage to Mae Cunningham on April 23, 1945. Mrs. Smith preceded him in death on November 26, 2002.

Bro. Smith was a bivocational Baptist minister for 40 plus years having pastored Holy Baptist Church in Savannah, TN, Trinity Baptist Church in Michie, and Calvary Baptist Church in Savannah. He also served as an interim pastor at various churches during his lifetime. He was a member of Michie Baptist Church where he was also ordained and licensed into the ministry.

Bro. Smith was a U. S. Army World War II Veteran having served in front line infantry in France, Belgium, and Germany. He retired as Reservation Forman with TVA at Pickwick after 31 years of service.

He is survived by a son, Robert E. Smith, Jr. and wife Wanda of Michie, TN; two grandchildren, Amanda Kyzar and husband Ross of Jackson, TN, Monica Smith of Sparta, TN; three great grandchildren, Evan Kyzar, Charlie Kyzar, Natalie Kyzar; a host of extended family and friends.

Other than his wife and parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by all his siblings.
